Vault Art Glasgow

Vault Art Glasgow is a contemporary art fair providing a ‘snapshot of one of the most original and exciting contemporary art scenes in Europe’.

We were there to document the art fair over a 3 day period, with a 2 person crew. We were moving quickly to try and cover as much of the event as possible, which was housed in the stunning Briggait. Our aim was to relay the unique atmosphere and ethos of Vault.

Josie Long / Ellie Harrison at Wunderbar

Dougie was down in sunny Newcastle this week, having a great time at the Wunderbar festival. The lovely Wunderbar people kept him organised with a bespoke welcome pack (thanks Beckie). We were there to film a unique Josie Long gig (her first in Newcastle) that took place in Ellie Harrison’s excellent Market Forces exhibition.

Ellie’s ‘A Brief History of Privatisation’ installation – which features electronic massage chairs (representing 6 ‘public’ services) linked to a neon display of dates from 1900 to the present day – was the point of departure for Josie’s gig.

All will be revealed in the final film, coming soon. Wunderbar is a very worthy excuse to get down to Newcastle, it is a fantastic festival.

Vault Art Glasgow is a new opportunity for artists to sell their work and for
the public, collectors and galleries to buy contemporary art. Twelve of the most innovative galleries and organisations have been invited to present a selected range of new art by emergent, alongside leading artists from Glasgow and beyond: a snapshot of one of the most original and exciting contemporary art scenes in Europe.

Dougie was there to document the event and he put together a trailer for our forthcoming short film on Vault Art Glasgow.

Signing On at Virgin Media Shorts

Thanks to a fantastic response to our casting call, we were able to find a great actress (Amy Conway) to play in our film. With a two week turnaround from screenplay to completion, and with a lot of very hard work from everyone involved, we made the deadline. Phew. It was good fun!

The result is now live on Virgin Media Shorts website.

Casting Call

We are looking for an actress to play a part in our next short film, made specifically for the Virgin Media Shorts competition.

The part is for Kate, a gorgeous girl in her mid twenties who signs on job seekers allowance every Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately the project is expenses only for cast and crew.

Production will take place very soon in order to meet the submission deadline of 7th July. Easy. We will be shooting around Clydebank, 20 minutes from Glasgow city centre.

All professional, non-professional, and first time submissions are welcome.

From Sir Tom Hunter’s Private Office

Dougie made it along to the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust’s Elevator networking night last week. An integral part of the networking night is the ‘elevator’ pitch competition. The challenge is to deliver a compelling sell of your business to an important client in under 30 seconds, the time of your journey in the lift.

Sir Tom Hunter, Scotland’s first billionaire and all round sound man, made a surprise appearance as the judge of the competition. Dougie’s pitch for 14c Film impressed and Sir Tom awarded him and 3 other PSYBT backed business a £50 USC voucher. This was a much needed wardrobe boost for Dougie, who was also surprised and delighted to receive a hand written letter from Sir Tom with the prize.

Voice Technologies

Voice Technologies are the largest provider of digital dictation and speech recognition solutions for the NHS.

This film was commissioned specifically to promote their applied speech recognition (ASR) solution online and at conferences across the UK, attracting other NHS regions to the product. ASR is making a hugely positive impact to customer waiting times and the overall service in radiology and other departments.

Managing Director Heather Wylie was delighted at the films performance in the Manchester UKRC, citing the difference between their film and others was “night and day”.

Glen Lusset Poster Campaign

Social media is a constant aspect of young people’s lives, and to capture this audience 14c developed a campaign using its language and look. A single bold statement, but always fun and playful, immediately attracts attention. The logo and branding are deliberately absent, creating intrigue and encouraging the viewer to read the text, rather than disregard it as just another pub ad.

Golf On The Rocks

Hachette Scotland and author Gary Sutherland commissioned a book trailer for Gary’s latest book, the hugely enjoyable Golf on the Rocks: A Journey Round Scotland’s Island Courses.

We worked hard with Gary to capture the spirit of the book, and also found a Campsie golf course to be an excellent stand in for the Isle of Skye course!

It is available now at Amazon and Waterstones, amongst other good booksellers.

14c Man of the Match

Dougie and Darren were invited to Scotland’s national stadium, Hampen Park, for a fantastic day of tours and executive treatment. Their presence inspired a one nil victory over Elgin City for the home side, Scotland’s oldest team Queen’s Park. Before the game the 14c pair were delighted to be asked by club director Jim Nicholson to choose and present the man of the match award.

A huge thank you to Alex Smith, our PSYBT business advisor, and Jim Nicholson of Queens Park for a beast of a day. You can watch the highlights here, and the winning goal is a bit of a cracker.
